Rodrigo da Costa Sales

Rodrigo da Costa Sales is a Brazilian lawyer holding an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame. Currently, he is employed with the Justice Initiative of Open Society Foundations, where his main focus is preparing written arguments on climate change and human rights for an advisory opinion on the topic. Previously, Rodrigo worked as a researcher on the situation of environmental defenders in Latin America, specifically writing reports on attacks and root causes of violence such as megaprojects, deforestation, fossil fuel exploitation, and just transition throughout Latin America. Rodrigo also worked at the Inter-American Association for the Defense of the Environment. His responsibilities included litigating cases in the Inter-American system, coordinating the organization's work in other venues, and actively participating in drafting AIDA's intervention in the advisory opinion on environment and human rights before the Inter-American Court. Additionally, Rodrigo worked as a clerk at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
