EPA Giving Preference to Industry-Backed Science


On November 10, 2017, the Washington Post reported that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was ignoring the advice of its own scientists, and instead accepting advice from industry-backed scientists. The report cited, as an example, EPA’s proposal to reconsider emissions standards for certain freight trucks based on research conducted by Tennessee Tech University, which was underwritten by the biggest truck manufacturer challenging the standards.
